Association Anika with the support of Save the Children in Georgia has opened our day care center for children with disabilities in Kazreti. Unlike our Tbilisi day care center for children with disabilities the new center is based out of #1 Public School in Kazreti. From today children with disabilities and their family members living in Kazreti will have access to high quality, community-based services and public education.
Within the scope of the project, the space in Kazreti #1 Public School was renovated and adapted for children with different needs. The day care center provides children from 6 to 18 years of age the following: a multidisciplinary approach, a high standard of care, and the services of highly qualified specialists (psychologists, occupational therapists, social workers, special teachers, etc.); the promotion of cognitive, academic, social and functional skills development; the promotion of social integration for children with disabilities, habilitation/rehabilitation programs, etc. A high priority for Association Anika and Save the Children in Georgia is the promotion of social inclusion and the promotion of inclusive education in Georgia. Accordingly, our new day care center includes the development of children’s academic and social skills and a non-formal education program.
The center was opened within the framework of the Association Anika and Save the Children in Georgia project “Community Based Services for Children with Disability”.
The project was implemented in close cooperation with the Ministry of Labor, Health and Social affairs of Georgia, the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia and Kazreti # 1 Public School. Association Anika is very grateful to them.
