Opening Ceremony of project “Strengthening Capacity of Civil Society for Expanded Social Services” (SuCCESS)

On April 27, 2021, the opening ceremony of the project - " Strengthening Capacity of Civil Society for Expanded Social Services” (SuCCESS) was held through the platform "Zoom Video Communications". The project is financed and supported by the European Union and is being implemented by Association “Anika” in partnership with „Telavi Education, Development and Employment Center“ (TEDEC) since February 1, 2021. The project will be implemented for 3 years. The project aims to strengthen capacities of the Georgian civil society organizations for promoting human rights and fundamental freedoms of the most vulnerable persons through capacity building interventions.
Since the ratification of the United Nations Convention of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in 2013, the Government of Georgia (GoG) is committed to promote the full realization of all human rights and fundamental freedoms for all persons with disabilities by means of provision of inclusive environment and establishing quality social service delivery. The project responds to this commitment of the Government of Georgia, within the framework of the project, social services based on the needs of persons with disabilities will be established in 4 regions of Georgia, in addition a national strategy of social services will be developed. The project facilitates the implementation of the new law of Georgia - On the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
The event was attended by - representatives of the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Labor, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia; The Representative of the EU Delegation to Georgia; Representatives of the Parliament of Georgia, Representative of the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, Adviser of the President of Georgia on issues of Persons with Disabilities; Representatives of state municipalities from four regions; Representatives of international organizations, the Public Defender's Office, local NGOs and organizations of persons with disabilities.
