Barrierfree Safety for People with Disabilities
Start date: 01/09/2023
Within the framework of the new project, Association Anika considers supporting Ukrainian Refugees - children, adults - Ukrainian PWDs, and those who have psycho-social needs. This project is a part of the INKuLtur-Programme implemented by Austausch e.V. and Association Anika in Georgia together with Eastern Partnership countries funded by the German Federal Foreign Office.
The project has a group of 20-30 people - parents and children displaced from Ukraine. Art therapy sessions are held every month.
The main part of the sessions involves art activities. The participants paired up, with some being mothers with their kids and others being kids with each other. Using just paper and markers, we drew things like cars, favorite foods, and shared goals. The goal is to have fun, use our imagination, work together, show leadership, and think about taking care of the environment. Using simple art supplies like paper, paints, and pencils, participants let creativity flow. As the session wrapped up, there was a noticeable feeling of connection and strength. Participants leave sessions with more than just drawings; they carry a sense of support and understanding. In the bigger picture of the "Barrier-free Safety for People with Disabilities" project, art therapy sessions are like a bright thread weaving stories of strength, creativity, and kindness. The journey continues, promising more stories of healing and togetherness.
